Fun Couple Ideas

An unfortunate trend for many couples is that they stop having fun, failing to plan for the kinds of things that both enjoy doing.

At the August 12-13 REFRESH! 2011 Marriage Retreat each couple was assigned a challenge to come up with fun ideas that fit into five different time frames and several financial categories. For simplicity, we will list the fun ideas according to time required. Have fun!

  • Under 1 minute: Make out, pillow fight, tell jokes, say "I love you", walk or play in the rain, make snow angels
  • 1 to 10 minutes: Massage, quickie, cuddle time, devotions & pray together, tell funny stories
  • 10 to 60 minutes: Go to dinner together, make love, fix romantic dinner together, shower together, drive in country, sun bathe/tanning
  • 1 to 4 hours: Go to a game, picnic, bike riding, test drive new car
  • 1/2 to 1 day: Go hiking, go canoeing, go to Amish country

  • Under 1 minute: Take a picture in a booth, make spontaneous purchase, gaze into each other's eyes, leave a $25 tip at restaurant, send gift of encouragement to someone, send a text
  • 1 to 10 minutes: Play pool, write love notes, have appetizers, play with puppy at pet store, eat ice cream sundaes
  • 10 to 60 minutes: Go carting, cook meal together, rock climbing, eat at 50's diner, zipline, Cheesecake factory
  • 1 to 4 hours: Bonfire, concert, go to a play, horseback riding
  • 1/2 to 1 day: Go to festival, hiking at state park, parasailing

  • Under 1 minute: Tell 2 knock-knock jokes, set Guiness World record for most kisses in under 1 minute, tickle each other, take silly pictures, donate to someone in need (surprise), have a race
  • 1 to 10 minutes: Have a staring contest, share a funny story, buy on Ebay in final minutes, cuddle, book the next weekend getaway
  • 10 to 60 minutes: Make love, go walking, bubble bath, workout, cooking, go out for dessert
  • 1 to 4 hours: Bike riding, spa day (massage), sing/write/make music, dinner at new restaurant
  • 1/2 to 1 day: Amusement park, museum, hiking
