Marriage Resource Center of Miami Valley has two marriage halls:

Marriage Hall of Fame - Reserved for couples who are nominated or selected by others based upon criteria determined each year.
Marriage Hall of Commitment - Open to any couples who have been married at least 20 years and who complete a brief online form. Although there are no perfect couples, those registering in the Marriage Hall of Commitment are reasonably healthy and reflect the 10 elements of a healthy marriage at left.

What does a healthy marriage look like?

The following Child Trends Research Brief from What is “Healthy Marriage”? Defining the Concept (Moore, Jekielek, Bronte-Tinkew, Guzman, Ryan, Redd, 2004) identifies ten elements of a healthy marriage.

Commitment of the couple means taking a long-term perspective toward one's relationship and having an intention to persevere when difficulties arise. Relatively few published studies have focused on this important element of a healthy marriage.
Satisfaction of the individual partners within a marriage remains a strong marker of a healthy marriage, even while highlighting the significance of commitment.
Communication has been studied frequently and is the focus of many marital interventions. Research shows that the quality and nature of communication are equally, if not more, important than the amount of communication, with positive communication characterized as being respectful and involving compromise and humor.
Conflict resolution is a characteristic of a healthy marriage, and may involve successful problem solving, a respectful decision to "live and let live," or mutual recognition that the sources of conflict are external.
Lack of violence is a sign of healthy marriage, and its opposite - violence - a sign of an unhealthy marriage, whether that violence incorporates physical assault or psychological abuse. In addition to couple violence, violence against children in the family indicates an unhealthy marriage.
Fidelity, the ability to be faithful to one's spouse, remains an important element in the concept of healthy marriage. Research indicates that feared, as well as actual, infidelity is a major concern for couples and is a reason why many relationships do not survive.
Interaction and time together, as with communication, is necessary; but it is not only the sheer amount of time together or what couples do that contributes to a healthy marriage, but also the quality of interaction.
Intimacy and emotional support are linked with communication and interaction, but are separated to highlight the emotional aspects of healthy marriage, such as feelings of trust, caring, and love, as well as physical affection.
Commitment to children and a concern with their well-being are important elements of a healthy marriage and will vary in complexity for varied family situations.
Duration and legal status of a marriage have been found to be important in research on family structure and child development. Research indicates that children develop best when their biological parents marry and remain married, as long as the marriage is not characterized by violence and high levels of conflict.
